Brandon Doherty at Total Farm Marketing said, “Corn futures ended mixed Monday, with weakness in nearby contracts. After a neutral USDA report, market attention returned to weather forecasts.” Chad Pater at CHS Hedging said, “In today’s acreage and quarterly stocks report, corn came in very close to expectations. The USDA put planted acres at 95.20 ma (million acres) vs. the average guess of 95.35 ma. Stocks were set at 4.646 mb (million bushels) vs. average estimations of 4.641 mb.” The Hightower Report said, “The 2 week outlook is favorable for pollination, although there will be some pockets of heat and dryness, but private forecasters are beginning to hint at the 2nd half of July turning warmer/drier across the central Midwest and that will have to be watched closely, especially if nighttime lows are forecast to remain higher than average which can significantly affect pollination.”
