The canola market seems to be looking for a bottom, according to many market observers in the U.S. and Canada, as an export demand problem for agricultural commodities continues. In the case of canola, factors that increased its premium over other world producers in the past two years have created somber export prospects. Increased supplies have also caused the price premium to erode versus European rapeseed and U.S. soybean oil. The premium has reverted to normal levels as of the end of February, leaving canola in a better market position to potentially grab market share.
