This spring has been a roller coaster weather-wise. Coming off last year’s major rain deficit, we stayed very dry into April. I would venture to say it was the driest March I’ve ever seen. The great weather allowed for lots of project completions like brush clearing around the edges and tile work. A lot of guys ran anhydrous early to mid-March, and a fair amount of beans were put in the ground towards the end of the month. Some big rains fell the first week of April — we had back-to-back weeks of 3-inch rainfall. Rain was welcomed, just not the big amounts at once. Temperatures have warmed up to feel “spring-like” in the last week or so, and a lot more corn has started going in the ground. The chance of rain currently most likely will halt planting for a bit.
