By BARRY COLEMAN, Northern Canola Growers Association
Canola crop plantings are off to an early start throughout the region due to dry weather conditions. Weekly crop progress reports show that canola planting progress in North Dakota is at 12 percent as of May 5, ahead of 9 percent last year and the average of 6 percent. In Montana, 21 percent of the canola has been planted, up from 12 percent the prior week and also ahead of average.
