West Central area saw more pleasantly cool weather and harvest wrap up with corn, double-crop beans and NH3 applications. Normally Carhartts are the choice for much cooler days this time of year but a wind shirt or light coats were enough this past week. I’m always reminded of days gone by of plowing or fall work with a JD 4020 in these type conditions and no cab. Practices have certainly changed, but they are good memories of farming back in the day. The smells of plowed soil never leave you. There is a new planting season ahead and eternal farmer optimism to sustain us. Be safe.
