We kicked off harvest here on Sept. 1, diving into some March-planted soybeans. After six days of cutting beans, yields have been good but not the record-setting numbers that we needed/wanted for these commodity prices. Once we hit 80-90 bushel beans we expect that, and we want more. Mother Nature has the final say, and this year she said nope! We should get into some mid-April beans early this week, and I expect them to be decent. However, I wouldn’t be shocked at all if they were lower. Late rains that normally make soybeans just didn’t happen in our area. Been a few others in the area dive into some beans as well and a handful start shelling corn. I haven’t heard much from anyone on yields, which is usually a tale tell sign they are not great. You always hear about the good yields, but the subpar yields usually don’t make it around local coffee shops near as fast. I hope everyone has a great harvest and a safe one.
