Producers are used to signing up in March for their safety net elections, either the Agricultural Risk Coverage-County (ARC-CO) or Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs. This year, there are later deadlines, new base acres, and new tools from NDSU Extension Agribusiness.

Because of drought, it may be advantageous for some producers to choose ARC over PLC, especially since some areas have “very poor yields,” according to Ron Haugen, NDSU farm management specialist.
