The canola harvest in North Dakota is well past the halfway point as many growers report better-than-expected yields. As of Sept. 25, 76 percent of the state’s canola was harvested, near 75 percent last year, but behind the 81 percent five-year average. Dry weather over the next few weeks should enable the bulk of the crop to be finished. Montana made little progress in harvesting canola in the last two weeks, as only 77 percent has been harvested, up from 68 percent on Sept. 11.
