People who work long-term in farming and ranching are 46 percent more likely to develop cognitive issues, like Alzheimer’s, in old age compared to other industries, according to recent research. Women, who now make up more than 26 percent of the workforce on Montana’s farms and ranches, also develop a higher rate of Alzheimer’s. Almost two-thirds of Americans with Alzheimer’s are women.

MSU Extension has recently released a free magazine dedicated to addressing Alzheimer’s and other cognitive disorders. The publication is titled, “Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias: Support for Montana Farmers and Ranchers.”
