It’s kind of a back-into-fall feeling early today. It’s overcast, still warmer than normal but a good breeze is blowing so not as hot as the past several days. It’s dry. Earlier this season all we did was mow the yard and dump the rain gauge. Now, lawns are brown. Farmers around us have silage done. They mostly getting into corn fields where it was early-April planted stuff. My beans are still changing, starting to drop leaves. No black layer on my corn. I’m a week from maturity on it, and it’s drying down. Stalk quality checking finds it going pretty good. Grain cart parts are on order and I hope to be ready to roll into harvest in a few weeks. I’m helping neighbors haul grain as they are harvesting early this week.
