Today is starting out nice and cool. We had 0.8 of an inch of rain Wednesday (Aug. 14) which cut short the hay baling last week. We’ll finish raking it today or tomorrow. Benton County corn and beans are in the best condition since Aug. 9, 2020 — the day before the big derecho caused billions of dollars in damage across the center of Iowa and Illinois. We plan to cut small hay bales later this week. Wheat and clover will be coming up real soon.
