Combine fires were big news around Illinois this year. I am not sure if it was because of over-dry conditions or other factors. There was another fire early this week near Rochelle. This one claimed the life of a farmer. Soybeans are all but finished here, and corn is not far behind. Lots of tillage, tile work, brush trimming. Fertilizer in all forms is being applied.
