Gevo plans to make its first commercial 30-million-gallon-per-year corn alcohol-to-jet (ATJ) sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility at the 500-acre Gevo North Dakota site – the former Red Trail Energy ethanol plant in southwestern North Dakota – according to Chris Ryan, chief operating officer of Gevo, Inc.

What especially attracted Gevo to Red Trail Energy is its carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) facility on well-located acreage in the core of the Broom Creek Formation. Carbon capture and storage is a key part of making sustainable aviation fuel, and the company can sell carbon credits to major companies, as well.
