Broadband is on its way to every corner of the country, especially to rural areas where internet service can be shaky. With broadband, high-speed internet is provided via different technologies, fiber optics, satellites, Digital Subscriber Loop (DSL) and wireless.
Broadband funds allocated to every rural area in the country
Called “Internet for All,” the broadband initiative is part of President Joe Biden’s “Investing in America” agenda.
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in 2021 provided $42 billion to the project. According to the Federal Communications Commission, 95 percent of the country already has high-speed internet access. Some 5 percent of rural areas do not receive high-speed internet.
