Soil health principles are making a difference in a long-term research study on diversity and integrating crops with livestock. Doug Landblom, NDSU beef cattle and integrated systems specialist, discussed a project that many researchers are involved with during the Dickinson Research Extension Center’s (DREC) livestock field day at the Manning Ranch.
The soil health principles are soil armor, minimizing soil disturbance, plant diversity, continual live plant/root on the soil and livestock integration.
Doug Landblom, NDSU beef cattle and integrated systems specialist, discussed a project that many researchers are involved with during the Dickinson Research Extension Center’s (DREC) livestock field day at the Manning Ranch. The livestock graze cover crops, among other crops.
