Catholic Workers participate in a large round-table discussion. Known in some cultures as a talking circle, each participant has an opportunity to speak on a topic of her or his choice. Participants in round tables spend far more time listening and learning from others than they spend speaking.

Cattle move to a new paddock at Anathoth Catholic Worker Farm. Mike Miles, who herds the cattle, says they are his soil engineers who assist him in silvopasture. Miles says, ‘We recognize that the earth is the Lord's, the fullness thereof. So our farming respects the Divine intent of creation and how ecological processes work. We raise food for people who don’t have enough to eat.'

Catholic Worker farmers visit a memorial for Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis. Pretti and Good were U.S. citizens who were killed earlier this year during federal immigration operations. The farmers say the site was visited so they could be present at a place where people gave their life for the common good.

LUCK, Wis. – There was a time when folks came together all across the land. They helped thresh each other’s grain. They raised barns. Get-togethers moved from farm to farm across neighborhoods, townships and counties. It wasn’t just for important work; celebrations, dances and socials also brought people together. People who were different from each other met and found they had much in common. The gatherings wove a tapestry that strengthened communities and made the world better.
