It has continued to be dry here with no rainfall, or even dew really. It was the warmest and driest September on record in Minnesota and it has really shown some effects on our crops. There have been a few combine fires in the area along with fires in fields started by a spark from tillage and soybean cutterbars.

Matt Tiffany farms with his dad, Bruce, in Redwood County, Minnesota, using a combined approach to address erosion, water infiltration and soil fertility. He grows a full season rye cover crop, along with corn and soybeans. The rye and soybean are sold for seed. Tiffany and his dad are alumni of the Minnesota Agriculture & Rural Leadership Program.
