By mid-December, the official start of winter was just around the corner, but in southwest Montana, it seems Mother Nature missed the memo. With temperatures hovering at or above 45 degrees most days, there is no snow across the Ruby Valley. Like most operations, 5L Red Angus is capitalizing on the open winter – keeping their cow herd out on pasture as long as possible. The warm temperatures have also made work enjoyable as the Mehlhoff family works to wrap up delivering sale bulls.
