INVERNESS, Mont. – North-central Montana has been synonymous with farming ever since homesteaders started to flood into the area in the early 20th century. Undeterred by the grasshoppers and elements and fueled by strong Nordic convictions, these early farming pioneers, by the grace of God, managed to coax a living out of the soil. More impressive yet, some of them even managed to build legacy farms that have now been passed down – a love of wheat and dryland farming rekindled with each new generation.
