Feingold also said Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump "speaks in a way that teaches disrespect."
Feingold, the former three-term senator from Middleton, leads the first-term Johnson, an Oshkosh businessman, 49 percent to 38 percent in the poll.
Feingold sought to emphasize the contrast with his opponent, Republican Sen. Ron Johnson.

This is the first Marquette poll conducted after Walker abruptly bowed out of the Republican presidential race last week.
The 41 percent approval rating is the lowest in three years of the Marquette Law School Poll.
The poll is the first since Walker announced his presidential candidacy, but also comes as his national popularity flags.
