A long stretch of dry fieldwork came to an end Sunday night into Monday (May 17-18) when a very welcomed 1- to 1.5-inch rain fell in the area. A few more shower chances this week will allow opportunity for a bit of recollecting physical and mental strain from the hard push we've had in the first half of May. Corn and beans planted last week have emerged, and the race will be on when it dries back out to take out weed pressures.
