USDA’s FOB plant pork cutout value was down 72 cents in the Wednesday afternoon average carcass quote, at $104.88 per cwt. The rib, picnic and ham were all lower, with the latter down $6.55. USDA wholesale Boxed Beef prices were back mixed to the Wednesday afternoon report. Choice boxed were up 29 cents at $314.77, with Select products $1.22 lower at $301.98. The Choice/Select spread widened to $14.61. Hightower Report said “The average hog weight for Iowa-Southern Minnesota as of July 27 was 282.7 pounds, down from 283.6 pound the previous week and up from 276.8 a year ago. The 5 year average is 278.0 pounds.
