Horse owners who may be considering breeding their mare this year need to be aware of some particular challenges that come with living in northern climates like Montana and North Dakota. Limited access to daylight during certain times of the year and increased winter feed demands are items that need special attention, according to Paige Brummund, an Extension agent with North Dakota State University.
