Using the turkeys’ iridescent feathers on the decoys makes them more realistic because turkeys can see the entire spectrum of colors versus pigmented paint that would be used on a store-bought decoy.

MINDORO, Wis. – An old saying is that if something looks like a turkey and gobbles like a turkey, it’s a turkey. But instead it could be Jeff Fredrick, Wisconsin’s 12-time turkey-calling champion. He’s won numerous awards including at the national level.

Sarah Pfaff-Cavadini grew up on a dairy farm in western Wisconsin. A retired elementary teacher, she and her husband, Tim Cavadini, have six children and 13 grandchildren. They enjoy their 175-acre farm near Mindoro, Wisconsin, where they raise registered-Angus and Simmental beef cattle as well as horses and other small animals.
