Some parts of Wisconsin could have used an ark recently but some parts of the far north were still a little short of moisture. But rain did come late in August in northern Wisconsin. By the dregs of August, days were noticeably shorter and mornings were quiet. Migratory birds already started the trek south weeks ago but Canada geese and cranes were still practicing their arial formations. Before the end of August, Jack Frost had reappeared in the weather forecast. He was threatening to visit some inland fields.
