Across the Eastern Corn Belt, corn and soybean basis has pushed upward during the past month. Across the 100 regional basis series tracked, only one weakened between the third week of March and the third week of April. The historical average forecast an increase in basis but recent movements have broadly outpaced the projected change. And ethanol plants and soybean processors continue to offer better prices than local elevators; but the premiums are smaller than the historical average.
