CASTALIA, Iowa — Since the Greens arrived in Iowa in 1850 — just four years after the territory became the 29th U.S. state — they’ve been known for two things: livestock and the sugarbush.

Dale Green addresses the crowd before the recent annual bull sale. Spring Valley Farms, a Heritage Farm, has been in the Green family since 1851.
