Author’s note: “The reason I wrote this poem was to perk up my husband who was getting tired through a difficult calving season. I attached it to a basket of homemade and store-bought goodies to keep with him to snack on when the nights and hours got long. I now make this basket every year for him at calving season with this poem attached. This February will be the ninth year of this tradition.”
