Our area’s temps were again on the high side, but rain did arrive on Saturday and Sunday evening. Pastures are getting short, and many are getting into their hay reserves early. Harvest is in full swing, and most are setting a good pace in their harvest efforts. We enjoy harvest, and something that we look forward to is a fried chicken dinner in the field — a great version of tailgating at its best. One childhood memory is sitting on a ’62 Chevy pickup, bringing lunch to my dad, eating chicken and drinking tea from a mason jar with my family.
