Harvest has started for several guys around here in the last week. I’ve heard a few really good yields out of some April-planted beans and corn, but sadly there isn’t much of that around here. Mostly it was mid-May through early July on planting dates. The yield reports I’ve been hearing from anything other than April-planted have been pretty rough — 35-40% under normal on corn and beans both and in some cases 50% less the normal. They say we have really good chances all week of some soaking rains. It’s too late to do much for us on these crops, but we are dangerously dry. We intend on starting harvest early next week, but hopefully the rain will keep us out a few days longer.
