The summer heat showed up right on time for wheat harvest. As bad as I despise the heat we need it in a bad way. This soil is rotten and the crops that are up have been suffering. Things will start to look better before long, but looks can be deceiving. I’ve driven across a lot of our county in the last week and everything looks about the same. Pretty hard to find a good stand of anything this spring. It’s also clear just how much crop went in at the first of June, evident now by the bare fields. We should get replanting done this week if all goes as planned. Never thought we would be planting corn at the same time wheat is being harvested.
