The Foundation for Agricultural and Rural Resources Management and Sustainability (FARRMS) continually ups its game to ensure new farmers get their foot in the door – or their hands in the soil – in small farms across the state.
Nature’s Roots Farm grew with help from FARRMS
Currently, FARRMS is accepting applications for its Farm Beginnings course, a 15-week farmer-led online community-based business course for growers, producers, local food business owners or those who would like to be.
Classes meet weekly for the program, beginning on Jan. 4, 2024 and continuing through March 28, 2024.
It takes more than a passion for growing things to be a success at farming, according to Jake Callendar, a farmer who owns Nature’s Roots Farm near Hillsboro, N.D., with his wife, Tori. Callendar started his farm journey as aFARRMS Sustainable Ag Intern in 2022 and went on to be a Farm Dreams and Farm Beginnings participant in 2022-23.
