Palmer amaranth is on the doorstep of reaching North Dakota, and if it’s not already here, now it’s time for farmers to monitor their fields for this pernicious weed.
North Dakota growers advised to monitor fields for Palmer amaranth
Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring believes if Palmer amaranth isn’t already in the state, it may start showing up in fields this year. Producers should look for flowers, anthers and pollen-feeding insects on the male Palmer amaranth. This weed was identified in southwestern Minnesota in the fall of 2016.
