Curt Kaufman stands on the pitcher’s mound at the old ball field in Westphalia, Iowa. Kaufman, who grew up on a farm near here, made his way to the major leagues, thanks in part to his performance for the local town team.
Kaufman started his career in the New York Yankees organization, then was eventually traded to the California (now Los Angeles) Angels. Kaufman’s major league cards were released in 1985 by Topps, Donruss and Fleer, respectively.
