The Hightower Report said, “The cattle complex was sharply weaker on Friday on another extremely weak day in the stock market and this morning the Dow is down another 600 points. The poor jobs report Friday morning also didn’t help the cattle market. In addition there are reports that union workers at the Greeley, Colorado JBS plant have informed the company that they are rejecting the company’s offer and will cancel the current contract extension on March 15 and it is assumed a strike will follow. This could put pressure on fed cattle prices and is an additional negative factor today.”
