CHS Hedging reported that there is lots of weather to watch around the world and it’s all due to hot, dry conditions. Russia has some rain in the forecast, but heat stays around, and rain is gone after the weekend. The eastern US Corn Belt has high temps and below average rain for the next couple of weeks. CHS also reported that Weather forecaster CPC is predicting a La Nina event which could mean a drought in the southern US and flooding in the PNW. Winter temperatures would be warmer in the southern US and cooler than normal in the North. It may also prompt a more active hurricane season. Total Farm Marketing said that China’s major corn producing regions are turning dry according to news sources. China is early in the calendar year for their corn crop, but the market may be building some weather premium in anticipation of more potential corn export business. China is the world’s largest corn producer after the United States.
