The effect of the wet spring and summer limiting root growth is showing up in wilting soybean plants, corn plants rolling leaves and nitrogen deficiency showing on lower leaves of corn on any ground that is lighter or was waterlogged. We have not had any rain for 10 days. Some producers tell me they have not had rain since the first week of July. The crops on better soils still look good and are moving along nicely. We are cutting hay, so it will probably rain this week, which will make many other producers very happy. We are working on cover crop plans which we are scheduling for the last week of August to be flown on.
