Dean Leschke and his son Jon built their new barn in 2010, and expanded from milking 120 cows in a tiestall barn to around 200 cows in a double-8 milking parlor.
Maple Creek Dairy’s freestall barn features a combination of natural and wind tunnel ventilation, one of several aspects of the facility that make it a comfortable environment for this high-producing herd.
The former milking barn at Maple Creek Dairy has been converted to a calf and heifer raising barn. Calves are kept in indiviual pens lining one side of the barn before moving to group pens on the opposite side. A second wing of the barn has been fitted with additional group pens for older heifers.
