The age-old saying that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” is true for many animal-health protocols. It’s especially true because some diseases are more difficult to treat than others. Tetanus is one. Treatment isn’t dependably successful; fatality rates can approach 50 percent. While tetanus vaccination isn’t always part of a herd-health protocol, it deserves attention – especially during wet weather when it’s often more prevalent.
