Call me pragmatic, but for most of my life, Valentine’s Day has not been about sappy sentiments between just two people. My family, friends and I observed Valentine’s Day with cards and treats but – other than a couple of youthful years when I vaguely remember a boyfriend being involved – it was a holiday for the whole gang. When I was a child, it was fun when Mom sat me down with craft supplies and put me to work making Valentines for elderly relatives.
