Philip Masini, of St. Louis, introduces himself to Eddie, a rescued steer, Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at the Gentle Barn animal sanctuary in Dittmer, Mo. Philip purchased the chance to hug the herd of rescued steers as a gift for his girlfriend Britt Johansson. The steers make it clear if they want to be hugged or not, and are given full control over where they are hugged, inside the barn or outside.
