BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – During harvest season, one thing farmers don’t need to worry about is that the failure to pass a farm bill by Sept. 30 will affect their crop insurance this fall.
Expiry of farm bill doesn’t affect crop farmer insurance coverage
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville, and Adam Nielsen, director of national legislation for the Illinois Farm Bureau, reassured farmers that current mandatory programs including crop insurance will be covered for this season even though the current farm bill expired on Sept. 30. Both expressed confidence at a farm bill will be agreed upon likely by the end of the year.
