Wisconsin lost 6,272 farms and 533,952 acres of farmland from 2017 to 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s 2022 Census of Agriculture released Feb. 13. The decrease in Wisconsin mirrors a national trend. The United States lost more than 141,733 farms and 20 million acres of farmland during the same period.
