SURING, Wis. – Thanks to new light-emitting diode – LED – lights, an old barn built in the late 1800s is now as bright as a new freestall barn.

Ryan Paschke, center, is beginning a career in dairy farming with help and advice from Jeff Dickson, left, and Allen Dickson, right. Paschke and his uncle, Jeff Dickson, applied for grants from the Wisconsin Public Service to rewire an old tiestall dairy barn, which Paschke will use to begin building a herd.
A freestall barn at Hi Lo Acres is used to house a 110-cow milking herd. The facility was finished in 2016; it incorporates energy-efficient lighting and equipment.
