Austin Schroeder at Barchart.com said, “Lean hog futures were squaring up ahead of the Quarterly USDA report, with contracts down 35 to 70 cents. The USDA national average base hog negotiated price was down a dime at $88.09 in the Thursday afternoon report. The CME Lean Hog Index for March 25 was up 23 cents from the previous day at $89.13.” The Hightower Report said “Yesterday’s weekly export sales report showed Mexico and Canada as 2 of the top 3 buyers last week, highlighting the significance of next week’s tariff decisions. Brazil is asking Mexico to allow more Brazilian pork imports as they continue to use the tariffs to their advantage.”
