“Worker absenteeism in some of the meat-packing plants in southwest Kansas due to ICE enforcement actions continues to affect slaughter, down 10,000 head yesterday from Monday last week,” the Hightower Report said. “Heavy rains expected across the southern Plains over the next week may improve pasture conditions for winter grazing, but follow-up rains will be needed to reverse the extended drought conditions.”
