Ranchers across Phillips County, located in north central Montana, breathed a sigh of relief in early December when Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum, assumed jurisdiction over three pending cases that were filed against the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). All three cases were pointed against the BLM’s July 2022 decision to allow bison grazing on six different allotments in Phillips County. The decision also allowed year-round grazing of said bison on three of the allotments.
