Weather challenges returned this last week. A hard, fast-moving storm Sunday brought around 2-3 inches of rain in a short period, leading to some big washouts and saturated soils. In addition, a frost on Thursday caused damaged in some soybean fields, with certain areas needing to be evaluat…

We were able to finish planting both corn and soybeans this week just ahead of another round of rain that brought about 0.5 inches. Field conditions have continued to be challenging for farmers in the area with frequent rains slowing progress, but we were thankful to get everything wrapped u…
Over the past two weeks, planting progress has been slowed by frequent rainfall, with systems moving through every three to four days. Last Friday, our area was under a tornado warning, bringing marble-sized hail along with nearly an inch of rain. Conditions have finally allowed us to return…

This year had its share of swings. We started with a favorable spring planting window that allowed us to get in early and clean. Early-season moisture was timely, though we did battle some heat and dry stretches in late summer. The crop held on better than most were expecting thanks to early…
Weather has turned cooler, and conditions have mostly dried out this week. Harvest is wrapped up here, and we were very pleased with all the yields! Field work is in good shape with guys starting some fall tillage and fertility programs underway. We are prepping for fall spraying. Cover crop…
Harvest is finished. Cover crops have been planted on all the corn stalk ground. I am getting our sprayer prepped to start doing some fall spraying. We also have a little bit of custom harvesting we will be doing this coming week to help some neighbors finish up!
We are wrapping up our harvest this week. Thursday (Oct. 16) we got 0.7 inches of rain, but it only put us out till the afternoon. With how dry the ground has been, it soaked it right up. All of the crops yielded very good. We will start helping a few neighbors finish getting their crops out…
Harvest is going very efficiently! Corn yields have been really good — 12-13% moisture. We have wrapped up with soybeans. We have some double-crop beans that are not quite ready. The wheat we planted and fertilized last week got 0.7 inches of rain, and it’s already out of the ground and look…
We are wrapping up soybeans currently. They are yielding very good and coming in around 10-11% moisture. We will be switching back over to corn mid-week. The ground is super dry. Anticipating some rain in the forecast. We also wrapped up planting winter wheat for harvest the last few days!
Harvest is going very smooth so far! Corn yields have been very good. The corn is still holding onto quite a bit of moisture. We switched over to beans the last three days, and they’ve been in the 11-12% moisture range, and we have been very pleased with the yields so far.
Harvest is going smoothly. We have a few small chances of rain forecasted, but the corn is dried down, and the beans are almost ready as well.
The corn harvest is going smoothly. A lot of the fields are still running around 17-19% moisture. The soybeans have really turned quick this last week. We’re projecting to switch over and start cutting beans by the end of the week!
We’ve had no rain and no chances of rain this last week. We started picking corn. The yields are comparable to last year so far, and the corn is running 19-22%. Everything has been looking good so far, and the 10-day forecast should help dry the corn down even more.
Some fields are in the 25-30% moisture range. A few operations have started harvesting nearby. We are projecting to start in the next 10-12 days.
The corn is starting to get black layer. Some guys are going to start firing up for harvest this week for some high-moisture corn. The soybean pods are starting to fill out nicely. It's been dry and cool this week, with cool temperatures forecasted and a couple chances of rain.
It’s been hot and dry this last week. The corn is about a week away from black layer. The soybeans are full of pods, they are loving this heat and sunshine we’ve finally had. They could use another rain soon to get some fill.
On the corn crop, there is a little bit of southern rust popping up on some field edges that the aerial applicators didn’t get the best coverage on during fungicide. Soybeans are looking great. We’ve been scouting to see if any sudden death was starting to pop up. We’ve gotten another 1.5 in…
We just wrapped up putting fungicide on the soybeans. Both crops are looking phenomenal at this point. The weather has been cool the last four to five days, and we’ve had 1.5 inches of rain. The soybeans are all around growth stage R5. They could definitely use some heat and sunshine moving …
This last week was forecasted for super-hot temperatures, but we ended up having storms roll through giving us another 3 inches of rainfall. The corn is pretty well finished out. Another rain on it in August will help some test weight. The soybeans are pushing the end of their window to be a…
This last week we’ve had plenty of moisture! The corn is pretty much finished out. An August rain would be nice to help add some test weight. The soybeans are at R3 stage, and we’re all trying to get started on fungicide with delays from the rain.
Most of all the corn in the area is pollinated now, and we’ve been getting timely rains, so it’s holding in there pretty well. Disease pressure has started to pick up slightly with the humidity, so fungicide applications are underway or wrapping up in a lot of the area. Soybeans are coming a…
We received 2.5 inches of rain this last week. The corn is fully tasseled and fungicide has been flown on. The beans are reaching R1-R2. All the double-crop beans are in behind the wheat. We have rain in the forecast three to four days this week. All the crops are looking great!
