The Archer Daniels Midland facility in Decatur, Illinois, is an active place, with 310 employees and 250 contract workers keeping the operation going 24 hours a day, seven days a week all year. Trucks are coming and going as frequently as every 30 seconds.
Steve Merritt, plant manager of Archer Daniels Midland Company’s Corn Plant 15 in Decatur, Illinois, shows products made at the plant. Most of the corn processed here, at the largest corn wet mill in the world, is grown within 150 miles of the plant.
