As veterinarians, we are trained in many species. I always felt like throughout my education that it was horses and cats that were the constant outliers. With heel bulb lacerations, it is no different. Here is a case I had from last week and how we managed it.
The heel bulb laceration that presented after getting the foot caught in a round bale feeder. This horse did not leave any skin to suture back over the large wound. A distal limb cast was chosen to speed healing. Shared with owner permission; thank you!
